Tourists Security Tightened In Kenya

In East Africa, Kenya has been the leading country in beach tourism. Many tourists visit its coastal beaches to enjoy sun bathing and be entertained by the Masai Morons. However in about two month, Kidnappings have been reported to be a threat to this to Kenya. For that matter, the country has employing a powerful security plan that will work without rest on the country’s frayed tourism sector. This has been done in a bid to bring back its lost tourism glory following the two kidnapping incidences in Lamu. To show the seriousness of the matter, the Kenya-Somali border, is closed for sometime.

Najib Balala the Tourism minister reported that Kenya is a safe destination and that the occurrences were accidental. He added that security in the region had been tightly marked. He announced that the Government had prepared a tour to the region for diplomats in the country in order to show that the region was protected and Government had revised its security efforts. He narrated that a substantial the majority of tourists had made bookings in advance had already cancelled. Mr Najib continued to say that Hotels in the region have already received cancellations but with the updated security plans in place, there are optimistic arrivals will begin soon. More security has been added on other parks like Masai Mara national park, Amboseli National Park to mention but a few.

In September, Judith Tebbutt a British tourist was abducted and her husband brutally killed. The previous weekend, Marie Dedieu was fell victim of the merciless kidnappers. All these took place in Lamu. After that sad event, this area is marked unsafe to visit. Even if it is a renowned tourist destination and one of the major beach attractions in Kenya, it lucks appropriate security.

Kenya needs to revise its torn security to convince the security conscious Safari fanatics.
