10 Days Gorilla Trekking & Wildlife Tour

DAY1: DRIVE TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK
Get up early in the morning and a safari guide from EXPERT GUIDED ADVENTURE will pick you up from your overnight hotel. Drive via the famous Luwero triangle where you will be able to see the remains of the 1980s liberation war. Have a stop over at Masindi hotel for lunch. En route, visit the Ziiwa Rhino sanctuary to see the rehabilitated rhinos. Carry on through the park stopping at the top of the falls which is an incredible sight. When you stand at this site, you will observe the Nile, the longest river in the world, as it squeezes itself through a narrow gorge approximately 7 meters wide before viciously plunging down 43 meters. Carry on to your overnight accommodation.

DAY 2: GAME DRIVE AND LAUCH CRUISE
Rise up early in the morning for a breath taking game drive in the Northern part of the park. This is aimed at giving you the chance to see the early risers as they return to there hide outs. as you go through the park, there are chances for you to spot elephants, lions, Cape buffalo, rothchild’s giraffes, hartebeasts, waterbucks, oribi, bushbucks, bohor reed bucks, hyenas, and on rare cases leopards. Drive back to the lodge for your mid morning breakfast. Freshen up as you wait for lunch. After lunch, you will take an afternoon boat cruise along the Nile. This is often taken as the highlight of a trip to Murchison since it allows you to get up-close and personal with the animals. Along this stretch of the river, there are approximately 4,000 hippos in addition to some enormous Nile crocodiles. The bird life is spectacular with brightly colored kingfishers and bee-eaters darting along the riverbanks. In case you have chance, you may see the rare and prehistoric looking shoebill, which is a cross between the dodo and a dinosaur (the shoe bill stock). Sail on the boat which takes you to the base of the falls which only adds to their impressiveness.

DAY3: TRANSFER TO KIBALE NATIONAL PARK
Following your delicious break fast, carry your packed lunch to Kibale National park. it is quite a long drive which is approximately 5 to 7 hours. Driving through the country side. Get in Fort portal town in the late afternoon.

DAY4: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING
Get up early in the morning and have your breakfast to give you energy to help you through out the day. Carrying your tracking gears, report to the ranger station in Kibale National Park at 08.00am to track habituated chimps – these unique apes are taken to be closest relatives than to any other living creature. They are incredibly funny to watch as they squabble and play in fruiting trees. The amazingly diverse forest is habitat to over 13 species of primates including red Colobus monkey, the rare L’Hoest, blue monkey, grey mangabey, pottos, black faced vervet monkeys, baboons and also bushbabies. A network of shady forest trails provides much to fascinated botanists and butterfly lovers, while birders are in for a treat with 335 species recorded including the endemic Prirogrine’s ground thrush. The mysterious forest elephant, smaller and hairier that its savannah counterpart, moves seasonally into the developed part of the park, as other terrestrial mammals include buffalo, giant forest hog and a half dozen antelope species.

DAY5: DRIVE TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Early in the morning, get ready for another wonderful experience. Leave for Queen Elizabeth National park. When you arrive, have an afternoon game drive. You may have the chance of seeing some antelopes, elephants, buffalos, and several other interesting birds and animals.

DAY6: GAME DRIVES AND LAUNCH IN QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Wake up early in the morning and head for a game drive. Get ready to see various mammals like buffalo, hippo, lions antelopes, hyenas among other species. You will come back to the lodge for lunch and a chance to relax before taking an afternoon boat trip on the Kazinga channel. You will have an opportunity of seeing animals up close: hippo’s huff and spray mere feet away from the boat, buffalo linger in the shallows. The shores of the channel are also habitat to an array of birds including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many others. Following this marvelous afternoon, drive back to the lodge.

DAY7: CONTINUE TO BWINDI NATIONAL PARK
Following the wildlife tour, leave for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park after your early morning breakfast. Drive through the seasonal southern part of Queen Elizabeth called Ishasha. As you go through this part, you will try to find the famed Ishasha tree-climbing lions before continuing to Bwindi, habitat to the few remaining mountain gorillas. Bird life and primate life in Bwindi is quite unbelievable, and there is an incredible variety of flora. Bwindi is the Bird watchers haven! It supports approximately 348 species of birds and supports 24 of 26 Albertine Rift Endemics that occur in Uganda; and seven red data book species. Bwindi forest adjoins with the Virunga Volcanoes (Dian Fossey’s stomping ground). At the moment, Bwindi is an ecological island, surrounded by cultivation on the rich volcanic soils. DAY8: GORILLA TRACKING IN BWINDI
Wake up early for a cheerful breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla tracking. Before 8:00 am walk to the ranger station for registration and a talk by one of the rangers; the guides will then take you through the bush pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas. (This trek can take from half an hour to 5 hours – a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes) relax in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them complain to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silverback. It is an amazing feeling sitting in the dense rain forest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas. It’s wonderful to think there are only about 720 of these beautiful creatures left. Dinner and overnight at the lodge of your budget.

DAY9: TRANSFER TO MBURO NATIONAL PARK
Drive to L.Mburo National park. This park is the home of the beautiful ruchell zebras; the Impalas from which Kampala the capital of Uganda acquired its name the list of wonders is endless. The Enjoy your lunch on the way and then proceed to the park. Dinner and over night at:

DAY 10: GAME DRIVE AND TRANSFER TO KAMPALA
Wake up early in the morning and go for an exciting game drive. You will have the chance to spot the beautiful Zebras, statungas, waterbucks, the huge impalas where the name Kampala was extracted and several other interesting species of animals and birds. You may also come across long horned Ankole cattle grazing with some wild animals. Continue to Kampala to catch up with your home bound flight.
