The pearl of Africa is one of the most amazing destinations in Africa. Its political name is Uganda. It is a land locked country nestled in east Africa with neighbors Kenya on its eastern boundary, Tanzania on its southern boundary, Rwanda on the southwestern corner, Democratic Rep of Congo and southern Sudan on the northern part. Uganda is estimated to be having a population of 3.2 million people.
Uganda has very many interesting spots which year after year attract both foreign and domestic tourists. They can be grouped into wildlife, birds, culture, highlands, water bodies and there content to mention but a few. Wildlife:
This includes both animal and plants. Most wild animals are reserved in the National parks and game reserves. These include: Queen Elizabeth National which was named a biosphere reserve by UNESCO, Murchison falls National park which is home to the biggest number of wild life, Bwindi Impenetrable national park, Kibale national park is home to the biggest number of Chimpanzees, Kidepo National park is the only arid park in Uganda and home to the ostriches, Rwenzori national park, Elgon national park, Semilik national park and the game reserves. These are habitat of animals like mountain gorillas in bwindi impenetrable national park, lions, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, ostriches in Kidepo National park, elephants, warthogs, birds like the rare shoe bill stock, crested cranes, and several other interesting animals. There are also some extraordinary plants like the Nakayima tree, umuboro tree, bamboo shoots with there unique taste.
Water activities;
These are performed in the areas with water. Uganda is one of the lucky countries to be having fresh water bodies like Lake Victoria the source of the Nile, Lake Kyoga, Lake Albert and several others. Uganda is also blessed to be having rivers like R. Nile which has amazing falls like dramatic Murchison falls, Bujagali falls where white water rafting, boat cruising, fishing, are done.
Rich culture
Uganda is one of the countries in Africa with a rich culture. It is made up of several tribes and ethnic groups. Some of the tribes have kingdoms like Buganda kingdom, Bunyoro kingdom, Busoga kingdom and chiefdoms. These have great history and interesting cultural sites like the Naggalabi coronation site of Buganda, Bujjagali falls the Home of the Basoga spirits and several other cultural centers.
Hiking
Uganda has highlands like mountains like mountain Elgon, Rwenzori , and several others have a provision for mountain climbing.
